What
a shocker of a flight. For the first time in a long time I was actually tired
and just after dinner I fell asleep watching a movie. About two hours in, I was
woken roughly by the girl next to me; she wanted to go to the loo. So, I let
her out and she took so long that I was almost asleep again when she came back!
Was another couple of hours into my next sleep when she dug me in the ribs. I
do not think this one was intended; she got a bit of a fright. That was it then
for me. No more real sleep just dozing. It was a really turbulent flight as
well with constant “fasten seat belt” announcements.
We landed in Dubai about 10 minutes early and once again had to bus it to the
terminal. I walked for what seemed like forever to get to the C Gates, found
the Emirates lounge closest to my gate, C6, registered for a shower, had a
coffee, showered, spoke to Greg, had some cereal for breakfast and then it was
time to go line up again to board for Glasgow. We boarded on time, but then
took ages to get going. There must have been a delayed inbound flight as there
were heaps of persons of African descent boarding very late. Either that or
they were having a really good time in the duty-free shops!
Despite taking off about 30 minutes late, we landed 10 minutes early. That’s one thing that Emirates do well and that is make up for lost time.
Whilst Dubai was a balmy 36 deg C at 5am, Glasgow was a cool 15 deg C at midday! I arrived at the Marriott just before 2pm and was quite buggered. I unpacked and resorted my case to leave the conference clothes at the hotel whilst we do the tour. I had a shower and went to sleep for a couple of hours.
